Hi Guys I'm a newbie here. I really want to pursue an online Phd course particularly in health sciences field. I am a graduate of BS in Nursing ad MS in Nursing and currently working as a Lecturer. I want to get some advice to all of you regarding as to what Phd program will i take and in what University. I've been through a lot of research but sadly i haven't found anything. I tried to apply at UNISA but my documents are still on process. I plan to admit myself to African universities coz their tuition fees are quite cheap and at the same time majority of them are regionally accredited. Any info. would be a great help. thank you so much in advance.

A.T. Still has a doctorate in healthcare adminstration. This may be a good fit you want to get into management. Not sure where in health sciences you want to go but this is a good broad degree and I believe they offer different areas such as gerontology, healthcare education etc. Good luck with your search and keep us posted on what you find.

People in the US do not know that British system offers PhDs in Health Sciences in 3-4 years. They also easily accept people as long as you are 3.5 or above (some schools require A-). There is one issue and that is you generally have to do your research in their country unless you do anthropological research- they are not that open to students going overseas to do their PhD as in N. America. So distance that is questionable. Also the price will be cheaper (you have to sort that) than in US but the supervision is usually composed of 1-2 people meaning you get lucky or not. If you get a bad careless supervisor who does not give you good feedback or direction then good luck- this seems to be notorious in the British system. Also if you wish to sleep your way through- many students over there do this, to get good marks and scholarship support from their supervises than maybe it is up your alley- no regulations basically. If you are not this type of person well make sure that your supervisor is also not because you may be pressured to get involved with them to get assistance or be on your own for your studies. Another thing is that you can pay for editing and you can recycle information from your Masters into your PhD that is not allowable in the US. My advice- if you wish to go to S. Africa, Australia, New Zealand or the UK to do your PhD make sure you have proper supervision and also be prepared to not have a committee to give you feedback. In these countries academics spend most their time traveling and are not always around to assist you, even when your submission date may be coming along soon. You may also not get scholarship assistance like you would in N. America so that extra year may be worth doing if you want proper supervision for your research. Also if you pay international fees to the British Universities you will get first choice of your supervision over domestic students unless they have scholarships....
