I am currently a adn RN. But my tru passion is business.I would like to pursue a bsn in health administration or management then a Masters would I be wasting my time if I attended an online program? Would I have difficulty getting a job? I was looking at Empire state college. Would anyone have any other reccomendations?

Hi diva - I don't think you'll ever regret pushing forward and getting your BSN. There are quite a few programs out there designed to do just that, help someone jump from an RN to a BSN. After that you can decide if you want to make another move up the ladder. My own opinion is that Healthcare is a field with huge potential for experienced, trained people.
Here's one example of a program that might work for you,

OK, I got it now. Not a BSN, a Bachelors in Health Administration.

Look at Bellevue University, Florida Tech University, Sullivan University, South University, and Colorado Tech University. Good luck.

ok thanks for the info I was looking at south university for my bsn but I have not heard good things. I have taken online classes before so I don't know about other people's opinions when it comes to online learning maybe they expect a walk in the park.

I teach for South and I know everyones experience is different but they train the instructors well and have mentors review the instructors activity every week. What bad things have you heard?

That after being accepted and starting the program. They did not take all the transfer credits they said they would accept. I have heard that from a few people. I dont want to go to a school and after I start be told that they wont take my classes. The school is expensive I want to make sure I graduate. I also heard the classes are very difficult. I was planning on going FT and working FT in your opinion is it doable.

In my experience, courses typically require between 10 and 15 hours of study per week. A full-time student usually takes four courses per semester so that's 40 to 60 hours of study on top of a 40 hour work week. Can it be done? Sure it can. As long as you don't do anything else. (you might even be able to slip in some sleep sometimes). I'm not trying to discourage you but I think that a lot of times it's better to take a course or two, just to get the feel of it. It will help you to figure out what is really possible and where the line is between what you can realistically handle and what is just too much. That old kids story about the tortoise and the hare comes to mind.

Davenport University www.davenport.edu offers a BBA in Health Services Administration and an MBA in Health Care Management online. I have a much younger cousin who is working on her MBA in Health Care Management there. So far, she has taken Economics and Accounting (last I heard from her, which was a couple of months ago) and she seems to be liking it.

You would not be wating your time.
I doubt if you would have problems obtaining a job with an on-line degree.

Excelsior College offers a BSN (nursing) and a BS in health care. You might want to check out their website to see if you can get credit for your nursing experience.

You could probably do it fulltime and work full time if you are really good at time management and focus on the end goal.
