Does anyone know of a Paramedic to RN Program that will be accepted by Florida? I know about Excelsior but was told by someone that looked into it the following:
Thank you very much for this information, but unfortunately this program doesn't work in the state of Florida. I would have to complete the program then work as an RN in another state for two years first before they would let me get licesned in the state of Florida. The program does exist but not really great for me at this time. Can't move right now.

Endorsement or Rio Salado Community College

    Randell1234,

As a long time male RN and former short time LPN/LVN that has been licensed in many states the Excelsior College program can work for you. Why? You can be seek licensure by EXAMINATION in ANY STATE then ENDORSE your license back to the State of Florida.

    VA EMPLOYMENT:

VA Registered Nursing (RN) Requirement for Employment:
    http://www.vacareers.va.gov/l2_Occupations_Nurse_5.cfm

For a position within the VA health care system, Registered Nurse applicants must hold an associate, bachelor's or master's degree from of a school of professional nursing approved by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Also, a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia is required.

    RN LICENSURE EXAMINATION:

The actual Nursing examination NCLEX can be taken in all States.

    RIO SALADO COMMUNITY COLLEGE:

The BEST option is Rio Salado Community College it is (RN or LPN/LVN) 100% online and your Nursing clinical rotations can be arranged in any hospital in your local area.

    http://www.rio.maricopa.edu/nursing/

" The Nursing Program at Rio Salado College is designed to be completed in 4 consecutive semesters. Successful students will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam. The estimated cost to complete the in-state program is $4,500, and out-of-state is $8500. Costs include tuition, test fees, textbooks, uniforms, health physical, graduation fee, and nursing pin."

I hope this helps you out.

    EMT-P to RN to FNP

I recommend the Excelsior route. Sorry to hear that Florida doesn't accept the degree but like was said previously, get licensed in another state then work in a federal facility or keep going to school and earn your FNP. You have a BS so there are nurse practitioner schools that will take you with a RN and ASN and a few bridge courses. I think you'll enjoy being a nurse practitioner having been a paramedic.
