So, I'm hoping to hear from some people that either know someone or have gone through this themselves.

I'm interested in obtaining a 4 year undergrad degree in psychology (either a BA or BS), in the hopes of pursuing a graduate studies in psychology. With the goal of doing research in psychology at a college/university (possibly be a prof).

I'd like to do the undergrad through 100% distance/online format.

I know there are several good programs like Athabasca, UMUC .... etc. that are accredited.

But when it comes to applying to grad schools (not distance-online ones, but traditional ones) .... how many will take the distance-online undergrad seriously enough to offer admissions to their grad studies?

Does anyone know someone who has done it? Or have gone through it themselves?

I personally like Athabasca's program since you can choose courses that many other online-distance schools dont offer, and it gives you lots of room to customize your outcome.

Are there more reputable universities that offer something similar (with more of name recoginition, and in the eyes of other major uni's "more respectable" and "more serious")?

    I don't have any experience.......

but I am investigating embarking on a similar track starting with a second BSc in psychology.

LSU Independent study offers the following psych courses online/through correspondence.

    Psychology Courses:

    PSYC 2000 – Introduction to Psychology *
    PSYC 2004 – Psychology of Adjustment *
    PSYC 2040 – Social Psychology *
    PSYC 2060 – Educational Psychology *
PSYC 2070 – Developmental Psychology of the Life Span *
    PSYC 2076 – Child Development *
    PSYC 2078 – Adolescent Psychology *
PSYC 3082 – Introduction to Abnormal Psychology

    * This course is available online, as well as through traditional correspondence.

LSU has a very good reputation with their independent coursework, in addition it is some of the least expensive undergrad credit out there.

I have experience with them (business courses) and have found them to be VERY user friendly and easy to deal with.

    Check them out here:

Best of luck with your adventure!

    Peru State

You should look at my soon to be alma mater - Peru State College in Nebraska. 100% online and the tuition is still pretty reasonable although it has gone up a substantial amount in the last three years. Still a great school though, lots of one on one attention and the school has been around since 1867, I don't think your going to get more established than that. If you have the GPA and the GRE/MAT scores I don;t think you'll have a problem whatsoever in getting into grad school with a degree from Peru. I have taken all the psych classes required for the major along with most of the criminal justice courses minus 2 which I am just finishing up this and next semester. They offer both 8 and 16 week course formats depending on the type of class. Check it out, you may like it ~
