Hi Folks. Any recommendations on a good Master in Public Health degree (MPH)? Just did a quick search and didn't find anything. Many thanks!
Oh? MPH as in Master of Public Health? I thought MPH meant Miles Per Hour. Hmm. Well, the following accredited MPH degrees are listed in Bears' Guide. Beyond that, I leave it to you to figure out how good any of them are. American Military University www.apus.edu (BG15, 97) California College for Health Sciences www.cchs.edu (BG15, 100) Charles Sturt University www.csu.edu.au (BG15, 104) Curtin University of Technology http://cea.curtin.edu.au (BG15, 107) University of Glasgow www.gla.ac.uk (BG15, 137) Indiana State University www.indstate.edu (BG15, 161) Loma Linda University www.llu.edu (BG15, 120) University of Manchester www.man.ac.uk (BG15, 178) University of Melbourne www.unimelb.edu.au (BG15, 140) Mississippi State University www.msstate.edu (BG15, 163) Murdoch University www.murdoch.edu (BG15, 123) South Bank University www.lsbu.edu (BG15, 172) Tulane University http://caeph.tulane.edu (BG15, 134) Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University www.vt.edu (BG15, 150) Walden University www.waldenu.edu (BG15, 150)
Not for nothin' Alot of very cool DL schools offer alot of MPH degrees but make sure the program you attend is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). If not, you'll be at a competative disadvantage in the job marketplace. Take it for what it's worth.
Re: Not for nothin' I don't know anything about CEPH but it seems clear that for many professions, professional accreditation is important. Good advice Robb. Jack
Type this, exactly as shown, into the Google search box: +"masters in public health" +distance OR online site:.edu Hope that helps.
Thanks everyone. It seems there are more programs out there than I realized. Professional accreditation will be key for me and it looks like USNews had the best representation of those. Just not sure how up to date the list is
The list I posted from USNews is copyright 2005. The list I posted from Bears' Guide is based on 2003 information.
