Had a question from an employee today who holds a BSN and has an interest in pursuing a Doctorate in the Science of Nursing, DSN. I have no idea who may have a program that either is offered in part or completely through distant learning. . .any ideas?

(I have the info on a Doctorate in Health Care Administration, Central Michigan University and passed that on, just looking for the DSN at the moment.)

Thanks in advance for a reply,

    RK

It's not the exact degree title, but Case Western Reserve University in Ohio offers the Nursing Doctorate (N.D.) in short-residency, intensive format. http://www.cwru.edu

The University of Tennessee, Memphis, offers the Doctor of Nursing Science (DNSc) degree by distance education. See <http://www.utmem.edu/dyn/php/wrifpt.php?t=0&id=22> for details. The Southern Regional Education Board website also has a good description of this program; unfortunately, the page on which it's located has a ridiculously long URL, so just go to <http://www.electroniccampus.org/student/scripts/termchoice/ptermchoice.asp>, follow the link, "Search Academic Common Market/Electronic Campus Program Offerings," then scroll almost all the way down the page to the third link from the bottom.

Residents of the Southern states can attend UT Memphis at in-state tuition rates thanks to the Academic Common Market (for more information, see <http://www.electroniccampus.org/> ).

I don't frequent the board for a host of reasons. So, thanks for your reply, belated as it may be.

If you're not looking for a practitioner's degree, consider the Ph.D. at The Union Institute. More than one person has completed a self-designed Ph.D. in Nursing there.
