I usually lurk here and just post from time to time. when the spirit moves me. I have mentioned on this board before that I have a DL masters in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University in Mequon Wisconsin. Well I just found out that I have been accepted into the Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology at the Fielding Graduate Institute! I am so excited I could cry! I wanted to let the board know that another distance learning Ph.D. (APA approved) is about to be embarked on. Now I gotta pay for it ;) ;) Anybody wanna give some cash to a soon-to-be poor graduate student? Donations accepted in large bill denominations only :D

Congratualtions Chris. If you're limited to distance learning Fielding is absolutely the way to go. FWIW, I've enrolled in a couple of Fielding's continuing ed offerings that were solid. You won't be an n of 1 insofar as running up the meter is concerned. I have had many interns who ran up debt loads over 100K.

Nice work Chris! Keep us updated. As for the donation...if you'll post your federal tax-exempt charitable donations number then I'll be happy to kick in a buck. :D
    Good luck with your studies,
    Jack

Thanks guys! I am just too excited. Actually, I am a bit overwhelmed by the news still. I am quite surprised I got in. Getting into a Ph.D. program in clinical psyche has been a dream of mine for 20 years. I will be in their new clinical neuropsychology track. I have a great deal of experience in neuropsychology and neuropsych testing/ rehab, the assessment of dementia and malingering etc... The program will fit me and my interests quite well.

I did not feel my admissions interview went all that well since the interviewer sent a few "curve ball" questions at me the centered on the few weaknesses in my academic record. In 1982 I got a "C" in freshman composition. She asked me what happened. I don't remember the year 1982 let alone that class.! :D My undergrad GPA was 3.8 and my graduate GPA was 4.0 so it seemed an odd question. Also I transferred schools one year due to getting an academic scholarship to attend the University of Tampa. I withdrew from Auburn which had screwed up my financial aid package and went to UT with all my expenses paid. The interviewer was very interested in why I suddenly withdrew all my classes at Auburn, two weeks into the winter semester and then went to UT. I suppose it is a good question to ask but I never thought it would come up since it happened almost 20 years ago. I suspect she was wanting to see how I would react to the questions. However, I always feel I do badly at interviews.

Anyway thanks for all the words of encouragment. Since I will officially be a DL student again I probably will participate more frequently on this board.
