Is there a medical school?

Here's the deal I need some advice on: my spouse has a B.S from the U of Fl Physician's Assistant program many years ago, has since worked as a Cardiology P.A., extremely skilled and experienced to the point that my spouse has divided up the practice with literally no consultation with the physician boss-constantly praised for knowledge and skill by other cardiologists. My spouse is too old (40+) to go back and take undergrad calculus, MCAT, etc., and is more experienced/knowledgeable than any 2nd year med student, so attempting to get into U of Fl's medical program is not an option, probably too old to get accepted anyway. I have read here where such places as U of Miami USED to give credit for such experience but don't now. We don't want to move, but time is not a factor.

Any suggestions as to where to go from here, is there a legitimate on line M.D. degree anywhere? I can see doing a residency, but not 4 years of a program that's already mostly been done.

Your wife is not too old to do any of those things and she will most probably be easily accepted.
One of the RNs I worked with in the ER decided to go to medical school after her youngest daughter began to drive. She was 46. She was accepted to Kirksville and now practices in St. Louis.
One of the PA-C's went to SECOM (nova now I think) and practices internal medicine in Tampa.

One of the ER docs turned 50 and quit to fish for a living.( of course he married an anesthesiologist 15 years younger than himself who makes wonderful holiday cookies- a move I highly recommend to anyone)

So your wife is not too old to be a physician if that is what she wants to do. If she goes with her current group she will also avoid all the problems of opening a practice.

I quit my crappy job @ IBM to become a librarian. Enjoying what you do is important. ( I still work PRN as an RN) If your wife would enjoy being a physician then by all means she should be one. If your wife is doing it for the money -forget it just pick up PRN shifts somewhere.

    Just my dos centavos :)
