    Hi,

My situation is pretty weird, but I will explain it as briefly as possible. I enlisted in the Army in 2005 at age 24 with a 6 year enlistment and upon entering I chose the Student Loan Repayment Program over the GI Bill because I had several thousand dollars in previous loans. In January 2007 I was medically discharged after serving just 1 1/2 years due to severely injured ankles. Not long after I was discharged, I started back to college taking a class here and there.

Here's where the tricky part happens. I was told by someone that even though I declined the GI Bill, the post-9/11 GI Bill was still available for me to use because they were two separate things. I have now used about 2 1/2 years of the post 9/11 GI Bill and I graduate in a month. I know it has been years, and to be honest I'm only raising the question because I've been told to pursue it even though I believe to not be eligible for it anymore. Given everything I've said, is there a way for me to still get help with my student loans? Any help would be great, my loan amount feels massive.

    Thanks for any help!

The best answer would be the VA's Post 9/11 GI Bill department. I suggest you to contact them, since your question is really specific. Therefore, they are the only one can determine your eligibility.
