    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
My name is Marissa Bamford, I am a graduate student at James Madison University in Virginia pursuing a master’s degree in Adult Education and Human Resource Development. I come from a proud military family as both of my grandfathers served in World War II, my father is a retired Marine Corps Officer, and my brother completed 4 years active duty and is currently serving in the Marine Corps Reserve. Having endured separations from my father while he was deployed, and having lived abroad 7 years, I have a good appreciation of military life. This lifelong connection to the military has sparked my interest in researching issues pertinent to military service throughout my academic studies. Due to this interest, I have elected to complete a thesis centered on veterans’ separation from the service and transition into the civilian workforce or their attendance in training or other education programs. My research focuses on the effectiveness of transition resources and my survey asks service members about their use of different resources and perceived effectiveness of each. Any veteran who has honorably served and has been discharged within the previous five years or service member currently preparing to separate is eligible to complete this survey. To complete the survey, please review the cover letter below and click the hyperlink to access the Qualtrics survey. Thank you in advance for your time, and most importantly, thank you for your military service.
