Hello I saw on another thread that Grand Canton offers a discount for veterans. Does anyone know of any other colleges that give discounts for vets on graduate level courses?

    Thanks

When I checked out Walden in 2002, they offered a 10% discount for military.

I am not sure if this still applies today, but if anyone is interested in Walden, it's definitely worth looking in to.

Capella offers a 10% on graduate programs also.

Liberty University used to offer a discount to military, veterans, and law enforcement, but I haven't checked that out in several years.

You will need to go to the page to find the appropriate category but I have pasted some excerpts from the following (there appears to be some tuition discount for eligible spouses):

    http://www.tourou.edu/cba/mtap.htm

"TUI will continue its policy of awarding 20% tuition assistance for Active Duty service members, Military Reserve members, and National Guard members who are enrolled in TUI Ph.D. programs. Specifically, the standard TUI Ph.D. tuition is $500 per semester will be reduced to $400 per semester credit for eligible military members....

...For Retired Military and Military Spouses, the tuition for Ph.D. programs will be at a 20% discount from the regular $500 per semester credit rate. The tuition rate for these individuals will be $400 per semester credit."

Now wouldn't that be a great website -- bringing together a list of all the schools that offer veteran's or active duty military discounts.

    Great idea!

That's a great ideea and you are the one to do it!
It would also seem to be a good idea to list disabled veteran's stuff.
I'm a %50 disabled vet, and I did try for the rehab thingy but guess what... as of 2002 they won't allow distance programs. How stupid is that? So, if you can't get arouind well, you HAVE to go to campus. When, Oh When will they "LET my People Go"?

If memory serves me correctly, those who have at least a 30% disability are eligible to apply for the rehab program where the VA picks up the tab for college. I didn't know it was restricted to bricks and mortar. Even for RA schools, Dan?

One other thought and this is admittedly a long shot. Some states provide free tuition for vets who enlisted from that state. I wonder if this might apply for distance learning? In other words, say a person enlisted from Georgia and it offers the free tuition and now he lives in Arkansas. Might the person be eligible for DL free tution through UGA?

The VA knows best! I guess VA disability benefits add to the difficulty of obtaining an education via distance learning. The GI Bill, on the other hand, works very well with distance learning programs. Hmmm…both are VA programs.

Sometimes I wonder if these kinds of rules are not changed due to a slow bureaucracy, to save money, or both.

    Re: Great idea!

Certainly I have a lot of interest in the topic, but my "spare" time is full for the rest of this year. I was hoping someone else would step up to the plate. If not, I might consider it at some point. I think it's a great idea and would generate a lot of interest.
