    Hello all.

    I'm glad I found this site and wish that I had found it sooner. I've been doing classes online for years. Some have been easy, most have not. I just finished all the required classes for my major (computer info technology) through my local jc and now struggling and complaining through the prerequisites. I know, I know, I did it backwards! :sad: I know... But this all started because I needed to take a Visual Basic class for my job (I'm a programmer) and my JC taught it. I finished it with an A and suddenly thought, "why not just finish your degree!" So here I am and now I need organizational help or advice.

    Welcome!

    Are you asking for advice about finishing the Associate's, or are you planning ahead for a Bachelor's? Also, what's your preferred method of accumulating credits; online courses, credit by exam, credit by portfolio, etc.?

    What is "credit by portfolio"? I've never heard of this. I suppose that I'm interested in accumulating credit any way that I can. Currently I'd like to focus on online courses because it's convenient (family, job, etc.)

    The Reader's Digest version of portfolio credit is the process of documenting and demonstrating that you already possess the knowledge that one would have after taking a course in that subject. For example, if you completed an Air Force training course in repairing and maintaining aircraft electronic equipment, you could document that you already have the knowledge you would gain by taking an Avionics 101 course (and probably more advanced courses as well) at a college/university, and therefore be awarded credit for it.

    There used to be an excellent article on the DI homepage about the process by Steve Levicoff, but it became so out of date that it's been pulled, but if you can find it archived somewhere it's worth a read. There are also many past threads with good information;
