    Hello!

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am an adult learner who returned to school last year to career change. I currently work as an on-the-ground prof/sometimes program coordinator at a small, struggling university in a directional state. My pay there has been flat for years, and I really think the writing is on the wall for small schools like mine and my school in particular.

I started teaching online several years back to get some work flexibility (I homeschool, too) and realized at some point that I did not know what I was doing. I went back to school by enrolling in WGU. I loved the competency-based model! I was able to get done in 13 months despite my very busy life. It was also really affordable.

I am in the midst of trying to shift to curriculum development/instructional design/ course developing, preferably working online. My degree has gotten me some opportunities to do online adjuncting, but it still is a slog as I work on some of the technical skills needed to work in my preferred field.

I've been lurking for a while, exploring alternative ways to feed my desire to always be learning and to educate my child well but economically as he starts thinking about college. So glad to have found this great community!
