    New to this game

    Aloha.

Lurker turned member in my 30's. American living and teaching without a degree in Taiwan. Married with children. I'm a writer and plan to see this educational course through to a Ph.D in order to teach at the university level.

Have about half a bachelor's degree in liberal arts credits (mostly English, Philosophy and Communications ) I just transferred over to TESC. Hoping to transform those into an English degree by testing out as quickly as possible.

Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated as I enter into the TESC process. Submitted my application, they've received my transcript. Now I'm plotting my course as I wait for their assessment.

Thank you to you all on this forum. It was a major resource as I was deciding which school to to go.

    Cheers.

Hi and welcome to degreeinfo! My best advice right now is for you to take a bit of time and surf through our CLEP, DANTES forum.

CLEP, DANTES, and Other Exams for Credit

It's full of useful information about testing out of courses. Beyond that, let us know how we can help!

No offense to this forum because I've directed people from the other forum to this forum before, but DegreeForum.net specializes in testing out and the Big 3 . People over there like to evaluate credits and make degree plans. There is not another forum on the internet that comes close to covering CLEP, DSST, and other tests in such depth.

English is not an easy degree to complete by testing unless you already have most of the English requirements. Humanities is much more test friendly. Communications is doable with some reasonably-priced, ACE-approved courses.

Then, there is the wonder called the Per Credit Tuition Plan. It's been discussed thoroughly on the other forum. At least two people I know of saved a lot of money by completing their degrees under this plan.

Well, unless you want to earn a degree about forex through distance learning, you're in the wrong place.
