Hi all. I am someone who did a degree partly by distance learning, followed by a residential university doctorate. I’ve read a number of threads here from people hoping to gain employment at a particular industry dream job or in academia. As someone else recently pointed out here, that sort of transactional thinking doesn’t necessarily apply to higher ed, particularly the doctorate. I joined because I was thinking I might have something to offer by discussing my experiences (without my name and personal details attached, thanks).
