I think I've probablly lurked on this site for at least..5 years or around that. It's an excellent site and I hope to help in whatever way I can. A little about me: I have a BA in Criminal Justice from University of Texas at Arlington (1997) and a Masters in Library Science from North Texas (2009). Like a lot of people I took a lot of time to finish my Bachelors (6 years) and then decided I had no desire to work in law enforcement (son of a police officer). After my Bachelors I worked in a academic library for a few years, loved it and got the MLS. I'm currently a public library director in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area.

    Welcome aboard!

You have one of my dream jobs! Way to go! I spend so much time in my library that I half expect them to offer me a job one of these days- they already know me by name. Sadly, most of my research is not related to my degree, so I'm approaching the five-year mark in pursuing my BA. Looks like I'm in good company.

The BLS predicts very, very slow growth in the need for librarians, which is what halts me from pursuing an MLS. I'm glad to hear that others are having success. :veryhappy:

Settling on a professional identity is a nice thing. It grounds you and permits you to be open to other places and ways to practice. Welcome!
