Hey everyone. I'm 15 and will be finishing high school later next year due to doing two years work in one year twice I want to go to college in the USA, to experience American Life, and to get a fast degree. I love learning and I hope I will learn all my life but I just want to get the seemingly mandatory piece of paper side out of the way as soon as possible. I plan to get a BA and a BS. Will this be able to be accomplished within 6 months? A year? To get into college will I need to take the SAT? Are there any colleges that would allow a 16 year old (maybe 17 depending on when I start) without college credits? (I can get some college credit if necessary) Will I be able to begin study in November/December/January? Anyone who can help answer my questions or direct me to sources where I can find the answers would be appreciated
I plan to get a BA and a BS. A BA and BS are almost equal. Will this be able to be accomplished within 6 months? A year? 3 years at the fastest. To get into college will I need to take the SAT? Most places for BS or BA Are there any colleges that would allow a 16 year old (maybe 17 depending on when I start) without college credits? (I can get some college credit if necessary) Yes Will I be able to begin study in November/December/January? Some places will let you.
Actually, if you have the time & money, it can be completed in 3-4 months for both degrees. 0 residency schools (The Big 3) + a buttload of CLEP & DSST tests, and a handful of classes and you can get two degrees. For example: A BA/BS in Liberal Studies & a BA/BS in General Business from Excelsior, you can CLEP/DSST out of everything except for English Comp- For which they offer a UExcel test now The Information Literacy class - which you can complete in a few days through Penn Foster and xfer to Excelsior and one Business Class from Excelsior that they require that there isn't a test for. From what I understand, they'll allow 75% of one degree's credits to go towards the other, so you're basically doing 150 credits of tests/classes total for your two degrees. That and I believe you'd have to take every upper level DSST that is offered to cover all the required UL credits. Granted, under the best circumstances, a plan like this requires A LOT of knowledge assimilation, and a good chunk of change. Outside the costs of the tests & classes, you'd be hit with at least $895 (yearly fee) + $495 (graduation fee) and probably a few other fees as well per degree. I don't believe there's an age requirement on the CLEP tests at all. DSSTs may be different, I'm honestly not sure.
