Hi, I've posted a few times but haven't introduced myself. I'm a grad student in school counseling with Univ of West Alabama. I'm about to start my 5 class with them. This site and all you post have been a great resource for me. My thanks to all! Oh, by the way, I live in northern Virginia.

    Hey Kathy,

Good to see some Virginia people here. I'm from VA too, except from the other end of the state....close to TN.

Hi Kathy! It's great having some more women on the board. It gets a little one-sided sometimes, doesn't it? We see West Alabama coming up more and more in conversations here. GO TIGERS! It would be great if you could give us some feedback about your experiences at your school.

Thanks for the welcome. I want to correct my intro post...about to start my 5th class at UWA.

I have mostly positive things to say about my experience with UWA so far. I got my undergrad degree 20+ years ago and have taken a couple of classes here and there since then, but not grad level. So I went into this a bit nervous about how I'd do, but it hasn't been as tough as I thought it would be.

The 8-week schedule keeps me on my toes. Not really many days where I can slack off. I have taken one class at a time but would really like to bump that up to 2 in the fall. Others I know have done it, plus held full time jobs, and I give them a lot of credit.

I'm not crazy about UWA's Remote Proctor device requirement for tests. I just used it this week for the first time. But I guess the school wants to show their online program is as rigorous as their on-campus one (???)

I was concerned about the perception of online degrees by employers or in the field, but I'm not getting any type of negative vibes when I meet people professionally and tell them about my program. - Kathy
