  1. Anyone know of a unaccredited or non standard biblical Hebrew program? This is just for fun and learning.

All you have to do is Google "learn Biblical Hebrew free" and you will get PAGES. If you omit the word "free" you will get even more. Some of the free ones look pretty good. Other free ones look REALLY good.

You can take Hebrew I and II for $60 a month as a non-degree student at https://www.forge.education

Pay for a subscription to Wondrium. For $20 per month, you can watch their video course on biblical Hebrew and many other subjects. If you pay for the annual plan, it comes out to be $12.50 per month.

I would recommend doing some research and buying a workbook or two on Amazon.

There is also the Ginoskos app. https://ginoskos.com/ Premium is $2/mo. or $20 for lifetime. It looks like they have an Android app but not an iOS one.

https://shepha.web.app/ is another app, but it's not Biblical Hebrew. It's modern Hebrew. And the iOS app seems to have disappeared...

  9. I appreciate that. It's an affordable option as well. I as a jew probably won't fit in to good

  10. I love that! They have a bunch of Hebrew content!

Yeah, annoyingly, that feature has been broken for moderators for a long time. But you could just answer my question here and let me do the rest.

You might be surprised. Dr. Michael Beck teaches both of those courses, and I believe he has selected readings/translations from Ruth.

No kidding, find the nearest synagogue. The advantage of asking Jews to teach you is that Jews use it.

Good advice and having visited a few synagogues they do indeed have classes on Hebrew.

I knew a lesbian couple and before the non Jewish person was married she converted and was studying elementary Hebrew at the Synagogue (presumably a Reformed Synagogue).

I don't think the Chabad folks perform same sex marriages. On the other hand, I know a gay man who attends Chabad. He told me they know he is gay (a bit obvious) and no one cares. He said he is welcome.

There is some risk to committed Christians though. The Jews will make you think about stuff you just thought everyone accepted.

Rabbi Dr. Telushkin (and other Jewish theologians) are interesting. It is a different perspective especially as it relates to scriptural interpretation. You can see Jewish humor and sense of humanity, irony, and so on in how they interpret or understand texts.

But then taking the time to read even other theologians outside of your tradition is helpful for perspective. I was reading one who noted the early accounts in Genesis (eg Garden of Eden) are not dealing with historical incidents but aren't myths either (explanatory myths) but rather literature with a specific theological point and purpose. He said that when we interpret them as wooden history we miss the point entirely.

I luckily have been blessed with having a Jewish Mom and being raised by a non-Jewish father. I have gotten to experience both sides of the coin. As a much older adult now I have come back to Judaism because its teaches just makes more sense the more education in christianity I gain. An example is misguided christian teachings on hell.
