Hello, everyone. I'm INTJ. INTJ is my MBTI personality type and, by the way, I'm a woman. I'm a former DI member from a long time ago. I re-registered under a new handle because one, I didn't remember my old password and, honestly, I didn't want to re-assume the handle because I didn't leave the board on good terms. However, you live and learn and mature, and I'm very much not the person now that I was back then. Please don't ask me what my former identity was or try to guess. I would like to leave the past in the past and start fresh. Thank you, in advance, for allowing me to do so. I divulged this much so if someone figured out who I was I wouldn't be accused of trying to "fake" my identity. I'm disabled, so I try to stay busy by learning new things. I've always been an autodidact. I was that kid who read the encyclopedia, LOL. I had multiple failed attempts at getting a master's degree (and visited the Washout thread a couple of time, LOL) because of my illness and had given up on getting one. Then the pandemic hit. At the same time, I learned about ENEB. I did a lot of due diligence and finally pulled the trigger on the Groupon deal. The time wasn't right for me to start, so I delayed until it was. ENEB was the only way I was going to be able to get a graduate degree without taking on more student loan debt. It was also self-paced, which was a godsend considering my illness. I really feel that if it wasn't for ENEB, I wouldn't have been able to achieve my dream of earning a master's degree, and I actually earned two. I needed to use two 6-month extensions and both were free. The first one was complementary and came with the program. The second one I had to send medical documentation and they didn't charge me. Some people downplay the ENEB master's degrees, but I don't. The final projects were challenging and some of them were just downright hard. But, I finished both my master's degrees (a month apart) with the US equivalent of a 3.9/4.0 GPA.
How is it a violation of the TOS? It's been a lot of years since I was last here. I don't remember my former login information and I don't even have the same email address as before. I wouldn't have any choice but to start over so, surely, that's not against the TOS. Anyway, you're one up on me, because I don't know who you are. It's all a blur for me.
This is one of those situations where the TOS is a bit murky but also the letter and the sprit of the rule can be different. I assume the intent is to avoid sockpuppetry and ban evasion. If your old account wasn't banned and you can't/won't access it I think you'll be fine. Not my call obviously but that's how I read that.
This is why I said, "I think" and reported it. It's for the moderators to handle (or not) as appropriate. If they think it's okay, it's fine with me. Another way would be to use the "Forgot Your Password" function. You know, if one wasn't actually trying to be deceptive and wanted to avoid violating the TOS with multiple login identities. But again, not my issue. As a member of this board, I decided to bring it up. That's sufficient. I know who it is. Ironically, I have a terrible memory for such things; a very short memory of people I've clashed with. But this was so transparent. And I'm sure others see it, too. It might have taken longer if the OP hadn't tipped his hand so quickly. What I won't do is speculate on a name (or even hint at it) because that would be a TOS violation, too.
I already stated that I changed emails. Can't use the password recovery tool if I can't access the email account it's connected to. I don't even have the same computer, phone, phone number or anything I used back then. Why would you report my post when it's clear that I'm not trying to be a "sock puppet", deceive anyone or break the TOS? You may think you know who I am, but I don't know you. When I left, I didn't lurk around here and my memory of what prompted me to leave is murky. So, I don't have a frame of reference for you other than recognizing your name from my more recent visits to the forum. It's been a lot of years since I was last here. Why would you try to get me banned?
Which Master's degree focus areas did you complete and did you use a foreign credential evaluator after completing the degree?
I did the MBA and the Master of International Trade. International Trade was an additional 4 courses. As of right now, I don't need the degree evaluated. But, there's enough feedback from people who did get FCEs for me to be satisfied with them being deemed equivalent to a RA graduate certificate/diploma and getting the full 30 RA-equivalent credits. That would suffice if I ever decided to pursue a doctorate, which is unlikely.
Fair enough. At any rate, if I posted something that offended you when I was on here years ago, I sincerely apologize. My memory of what happened here is murky, but what I do remember is that I was going through something offline. It was traumatic and probably affected the way I interacted on here. For that, I'm sorry.
As others have mentioned, it is a violation of our TOS to sign on with alternate accounts. Moderators don't have the ability to help you gain access to your old account, nor to combine your new account with your old account. Only the administrator, Chip can. Due to a weird glitch in the system, I, and some of the other moderators are not able to receive DMs, but I believe Chip still can. You can send him a DM and one of us can email him to give him the heads up to look for your message.
I don't want to be under my old account. I'm not the same person, in any way, that I was then. I don't even have the same relationships IRL that I had back then, including family. I want to leave all of the past in the past. If I can't do that here, I'd rather just leave.
No need. After some internal discussion, we decided that given that the purpose of that rule is to prevent sock puppetry, which this clearly is not an attempt to do, and that there's precedent for this (Tireman), we'll just say welcome back and keep moving forward.
Isn't one of the reasons for the single-identity limit is so people aren't doing this kind of re-boot? One of the features of this board is that posters are responsible for ALL of their posts, not just after taking a mulligan. It would seem proper for this person to acknowledge to community his or her prior identity.
