Australia Recognises Jindal Global Law School's Law Degree - MarketWatch Juris imprudence or good move?
I'd never heard of this school. But O.P. Jindal Global University appears at first glance to be a properly constituted private university in India, recognized by the UGC and accredited by NAAC. I don't know what kind of law school recognition exists in India. So this would seem to be a question of Australia recognizing foreign law degrees, and I assume that's nothing new for Australia. They apparently have procedures in place to do that.
I don't know what we do here in the US. Maybe it's like with foreign medical doctors meeting additional requirements.
I knew a woman who was an MD in Russia but wasn't allowed to practice medicine until her language skills improved. It took her over 2 years to get up to speed in that area. I don't know exactly how they made the assessment but apparently it was focused largely, though not exclusively, on medical terminology. So I guess that somewhere out there the licensing boards have these specialized tests that are pretty tough.
