I've got rats in the garage. What the heck do I do? Should I feed them some rat poison? Any suggestions welcome. Damn! The travails of a homeowners. Will they end up dying behind a wall and stink up the place?
Target practice? Blammety-blammety-BLAM! Seriously, I'd call a pro. Rats are truly horrible - they're filthy, mean, quintessential survivors and amazingly resourceful. On your own, it could be a long war -- and you don't want that. J.
Don't feed your rats any leafy green vegetables cuz the vitamin K will counteract the warfarin in the rat poison.
Yeah, i think you are right. I better get an exterminator over. I don't want to start fooling around with toxic chemicals. My local vector control will most likely get involved as well. Ay dios mio!
I'll keep that in mind, he he! Little bastards! I am trying an electronic trap my neighbor lent me, it is supposed to kill the rats/mice with an electronic charge! Supposedly anyway! Sound good in theory, lets see if i get any results. I am going to try putting some peanut butter in the bait!
There's no such thing as "just a few rats." If you've seen a few then there's likely to be many more. Call an exterminator.

I have moles in my lawn. I could trap them but I'm against the unfair incarceration of minority groups. I could poison them but I'm worried about the local band of feral cats. They really don't do any damage, they just make the lawn a little squishy when you step on one of their little tunnels. I'm learning to live with them.
I have decided to try old school rat traps! It worked for my parents many years ago. I'll put some cheese in the bait trap, leave if overnight, and see what happens. It can't hurt, I might as well try it before calling an exterminator.
It's your house, but I think there are situations that call for trying a lower cost approach and that a rat infestation ain't one of them.

Rule of thumb: for everyone you see or catch, there are a hundred more. (Even if it's only 50 . . . ) When we lived on the Big Island, as sugar cane fields were turned into real estate, the cane rats moved out into the towns. Someone had the brilliant idea that in India, the natural enemy of rats are mongooses, so they imported a large number of mongooses. While mongooses are nocturnal, it turned out cane rats were diurnal. They never met, and the island became overrun with both rats and mongooses.
I finally killed a rat using and old school rat trap! I set it again in case there is more than one rat!
