Bad news.... CLEP has undergone their ACE exam review and a total of 8 exams have been DOWNGRADED the recommended credit value. If you are not locked into/enrolled in a degree plan, the new credit amounts will apply. American Literature DOWNGRADED from 6 to 3 credits. Analyzing and Interpreting Literature DOWNGRADED from 6 to 3 credits. College Composition Modular DOWNGRADED from 6 to 3 credits. English Literature DOWNGRADED from 6 to 3 credits. Humanities DOWNGRADED from 6 to 3 credits. All three foreign language exams remain at 6 credits for a level 1 pass but DOWNGRADED to 9 credits for level 2 passes (scores vary-see link). https://clep.collegeboard.org/develop/ace-credit
According to the ACE guide, the downgrade took effect March 1, 2015: ACE CREDIT | The National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training
Credits, in college-speak, are based on hours not level, so I think the change just reflects it changing from a 2-semester sequence to a 1-semester sequence. It's still lower level.
