I am interested to pursue MBA at Australian Institute of Business (AIB - Australian Institute of Business (previously Gibaran Learning Group)), which is listed in the UNESCO IAU Handbook of Universities. Can anybody check that whether there "Overseas Teaching Centres" are also listed in the UNESCO IAU Handbook ? Recognition in our country is hell lot of issue.
The UNESCO IAU Handbook is not usually accepted as authoritative by those in the know. Tread cautiously.
They claim recognition under Australian Qualifications Framework. If so, they meet Australian Govt. quality assuarance. Email the Australian Qualifications Framework Authority and ask them if they have AIB registered. If so, then it is very good recognition. Certainly, here it is everything.
Thanks Ebbwvale. Actually, i am interested to study in their "Colombo Teaching Centre". However, the Pakistan's Ministry of Education says that the "Colombo Teaching Centre" should be recognized by the Sri Lankan Govt. Then and only, they will recognize my degree. Seems strange.
Wait, but why would Pakistani bureaucrats even know where you studied for it if the transcript itself comes from Australia?
Why not run it past the bureaucrats and see what they say. Considering the amount of students from your area of the world studying here I would be surprised if they did not recognize it.Any Australian educational enterprise doing anything in Asia or the rest of the world will be scrutinized by the Aust Govt. Bearing in mind the communication between your govt and mine that this business would be allowed to operate without recognition. Unlike the US Aust education is tightly controlled by govt. Some might say too tightly. You could also ask the Aust. High Commission in your country.
Steve, when we apply for a foreign degree recognition, they check our passports. They have stupid rules.
I'm not so sure about the reputation of this degree. Has anyone looked at the assessment requirement? It's via homework assignments and open-book exams. I don't think that that screams academic rigor to me. Also on the home page, to the top mentions the ACTT, The Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago. Has any other country other than mine given this organisation accreditation ? It doesn't look so. Trinidad's standards aren't something to boast about. In Trinidad I have 4 options to do my MBA; AIB, UWI (AMBA), HeriotWatt & Anglia Ruskin. AIB is definitely off the list, because it has the lowest reputation here, and strangely enough, it isn't the cheapest. My advice is to weigh up your options again. Reassess why you want to do the MBA and your budget and time constraints. A 1 year MBA with open book exams does seem quite too good to be true where value for money is concerned.
That is pretty stupid. But my question is what's stopping you from saying, "Oh, I earned it by distance," because that wouldn't lead to any stamps in your passport.
Steve, if i say that i earned it by distance, then they would be requiring a "Admission Notice" of Online learning. Our Equivalence Committee tries to be very intelligent, but they have some real stupid rules.
Guys, can anyone please help me to check that whether "Australian Institute of Business" is allowed to run programmes outside Australia ?
The question perhaps could be is AIB authorised to run the program where you want to attend? I understood that to be Colombo. Ask authorities there. The questions I would consider rekevant are: Is AIB a legitimate recognized institute entitled to issue degrees? Then ask the Australian High Commission. They will know or will find out for you Is their centre in Colombo authorised to conduct course? Ask the relevant authorities there. They will have a High Commission in your country. Then is it recognized in your country? Ask your Ministry of Education Does it have industry recognition? Ask your employer or people in the industry. Does it meet your requirements only you will know
