I posted this subject many years ago, and figured it might be fun to do it again, since we have so many new members who weren't around back then. Many of us have earned a degree, some with multiple degrees, but what is the location of your actual diplomas? When I got a massive entertainment center for my living room several years ago, I displayed mine by propping them up in their padded holders (along with my HS diploma) just to fill-up space until we could get some knick-knacks to fill the empty spots. Now, they're all in a box in my basement. So, where are yours? Framed and displayed, stuck in a drawer somewhere, or something else?
Original AS is in my book of certifications and such (with licenses and etc...) Original BS hangs above my dresser....just had nowhere it really fit. Quality copies of both, in cheap but matted frames, hang in my office at work.
Only my Master from SMU and Bachelor from Troy are displayed. I have not received Georgetown's yet. The rest are stacking on my desk along with my Military awards and IT certifications.
In a filing cabinet in my basement. In my many years in aerospace engineering and visiting many companies I find it rare to see engineers displaying diplomas in their offices.
Framed and prominently displayed on the dining room wall at my mom's house. Ironically, my mother's diplomas, which are VASTLY more impressive than mine, are boxed and stored in the bottom drawer of her china cabinet, underneath some candles, two flashlights and some spare batteries. She hasn't bothered to look at her own degrees in 20 years.
My diplomas are framed and hanging on the wall in my office at work. I work at a university, and most of my colleagues similarly display their degrees.
I work in a hospital...it's common for the Administration side to display their degree(s), same for the Doctors that keep an office here.
Mine are sitting in the bookcase. I also have a folder full of certs and test scores. I should take the degrees into HR sometime soon to have them copied and put in my file. . . :: sigh :: I work in a highly political environment where the company is flattening and trying to cut wherever possible, so it'd probably be a good idea to have tangible evidence of my qualifications handy. I'd display these on my wall, but they would actually create more issues at the moment as people would try to diss them as being "online degrees"-- not that most of the people doing the dissing have done any better (and in some cases, have no degrees at all).
When I worked at VIU I had them on the wall, but I resigned as of last Friday to get back into IT, so for now they're in a box in my home office.
I created a sandwich sign and placed my degrees on it and then I hang the sandwich sign over my shoulders and walk down the street with it. It looks similar to this: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/02/20/article-1151072-02A1C8D1000005DC-71_468x390.jpg and: http://loanworkout.org/wp-content/uploads/great-depression-job-hunters.jpg If I get really desperate and don't have time to grab my sandwich signs, I'll just use cardboard without using my degrees, like this: http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/attach/c/0/31/261/31261309_09Will_work_for_food.jpg
Ironically my AS in on the wall in my guest bedroom, my BS is in a folder or something on the top shelf in my closet and my MBA is in my dresser drawer, still in the original envelope it came in. One day I'll frame them.
I just bought a nice frame for my master's diploma. I'm going to hang it in my office. Me and my wife's bachelors degrees are both in our fire safe, along with our transcripts.
Since I moved last year, most of them have been sitting in a box in the guy's room with the rest of my pro gear for some day when I have my own office again. My wife did hang up my MPH in the man cave. I basically hotbunk an office right now with a couple other people on various shifts and we have very little personalization in our office.
