I use wikipedia but only as a starting point.

Ergo, whomever edited the Wikipedia articles likely copied and pasted from the publications. It happens all the time.
I considered that possibility, so I reviewed the edit history of the Wikipedia pages and the paragraphs in question appear to have been there for several years.
