"In the long and storied history of utterly retarded legislation in South Carolina, we may have finally found the legal statute that takes the cake for sheer stupidity, which we think you’ll agree is saying something," the unsigned blog posting scathingly commented. No joke: South Carolina now requires ’subversives’ to register | Raw Story Thank you, Mr. Bin Laden. That will be $5. | Rapid Eye Reality THE ACTUAL FORM: http://www.scsos.com/forms/Miscellaneous/SubversiveAgentForm.pdf
"Sorry sir, we cannot put you on the FBI's watch list because you don't have $5. But fill out this form and plead your case and explain why it would benefit the US gov't to watch you and it will be sent to the DA to consider. If your fees are waived you will be expected to pay them back as you are able or within one calendar year." Also, my friend suggested that it appears you could easily sign up somebody else. I wonder how many submissions have been done on behalf of Bush or Obama.
It sounds like a way to charge people when specific charges are difficult to amount. Then again, if they can be found guilty of this, then I am certain that they could be found guilty of conspiracy (wouldn't you have to prove conspiracy to even invoke this law anyway?). OK, where are the legal experts?
Dang it MC, now you 're gonna have JD's all over the place! I bet they will want us to call them Doctor.
If the form is filled out and sent to the state without the $5 fee, would they still enter the information into the subversive database? Mmmmmmm....
"sorry mr. terrorist, sir, your check bounced and we cannot consider you a threat until your $5 is received in full."
