Hi. I am struggling to find anywhere online that offer an A Level is Chemistry on a distance learning course. I am 29, have 2 kids and work full time, so need to do a distance learning course of some type. I live in Central Essex and could give up 1 night a week for evening classes. Can anyone offer me any advice? I already have my A+ GCSE and want to move on eventually to a deploma in Chemistry and Biology. I know it will take time, but I have plenty of it in the evening at home babysitting! Thanks.
I do not know of any DL courses for A-level chemistry. Do you have options other than an A-level? Open university has courses in chemistry: http://www3.open.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/science/chemistry/courses/index.htm Incidentally my brother-in-law earned a bachelors degree in biology through Open University when he was in his 50s - he said it was hard work but very satisfying.
I didn't see anything on educationuk.org, but you might want to do some further searching on the site. You can search for programs by area. There might be something there. Good luck.
Central Sussex College in Haywards Heath has a non-DL course for A-level chemistry: http://www.centralsussex.ac.uk/courses/2814/chemistry%20as-a%20level Is this within commuting distance for you? If so you could call the college to see if the class time fits with your availability. You could also contact the Royal Society of Chemistry and ask them where you might find an A-level chemistry course; http://www.rsc.org/Education/AboutUs/index.asp
There are CLEP test centers in England http://apps.collegeboard.com/cbsearch_clep/searchCLEPTestCenterResults.jsp?searchCategory_country=England&DBACTION=SEARCH_TC&clepSearchType=International&x=47&y=9 I do not know if any UK universities accept CLEP for credit (I suspect CLEP exams are more akin to GCEs than to university level courses).
Hi I am not sure if this will be as you posted your question a little while ago. but if you do a google search and type ASW2 . You might get lucky . A website called Bright furures online should pop up and you can make some enquires about A2 Chemistry Ciao
ShellyB, As Ciao has mentioned, BrightFutures does offer A-level Chemistry via DL format. http://www.brightfuturesonline.co.uk/default.asp?ContentID=26
