Does anyone know of any distance graduate programs in German or Germanic Studies? The community college where I teach wants to expand its foreign language offerings. It looks like there used to be a program at the University of Nebraska in German Education, but when I search their website, they don't seem to offer it currently. Thanks in advance for your help.
Undergraduate hours in German While not exactly what I was looking for, I discovered that the University of Arkansas- Fayetteville offers 27 undergraduate hours in German through print-based correspondence classes. Fifteen of these hours are upper-division classes. The cost ranges from $316.97 to $361.97 per 3-hour class ($15 more per class for out-of-state students). Book fees are not included in the cost. UA- Fayetteville also offers undergraduate lower-division and upper-division French and Spanish classes (21 hours of ech language). Some of these are offered through print-based correspondence, while others are web-based.
Fern Universität offers online programs http://www.fernuni-hagen.de/ Although not quite distance learning, Millersville University offers a masters degree program during the summertime. I'm sure you can get 18 credits through them, even if you don't want the degree. http://www.millersville.edu/~forlang/grad.php Middlebury College also offers summer study in graduate course German http://www.middlebury.edu/academics/ls/ Rutgers offers a MAT Spanish, French, German or Italian during the summers http://wli.rutgers.edu/wli.php?page=matquestionsspanish Best of luck!
Unfortunately, Fernuniversität Hagen doesn't offer any courses in 'German or Germanic Studies' or something similar.
That's too bad . .. well I know the other programs offer German courses (I could actually read their websites . .it wasn't in German!)
Oregon State offers a minor in German as a standalone program for those already holding a BA, but that's not what you are looking for. I am assuming you already speak German, right?
