I've been thinking of getting my BS in Business from Excelsior by testing out, but their exams seem to be expensive. Anyone know, offhand, how much the CLEPS, DANTES, and TESEC are? Money is a little tight right now, but I don't want that to slow my progress. And I know the GREs allow testing like every 4 months, but I'm looking for tests that I can schedule at random times throughout the year. Any ideas?
CLEP: $70 ( http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html ) DSST: $70 ( http://www.getcollegecredit.com/learners.html ) TESC: Non-Enrolled - $160 per credit ( http://www.tesc.edu/1673.php ) Adams State College offers undergraduate business courses that cost $360 for a three credit course. Note that these courses may require a proctor. http://www.adams.edu/extended_studies/independent/business/business.php Louisiana State University offers online business courses that cost $241 per course. http://is.lsu.edu/courselist.asp?level=CO&online=0&nid=102
>> It might be cheaper to go with TESC (though business is not my major, I'm just doing a rough calculation) because at TESC you can use any and all CLEP/DSST exams while EC will require at least some EC exams or courses. Since CLEP/DSST are so much less, you might come out spending less $. TESC calls anything 200 or above "upper level" which means you can bring in community college classes along with CLEP/DSST while EC requires 300 and above- not available at your local community college or through CLEP/DSST
GRE fees are here http://www.ets.org/portal/site/ets/menuitem.1488512ecfd5b8849a77b13bc3921509/?vgnextoid=4142147a882a5010VgnVCM10000022f95190RCRD&vgnextchannel=dd1a46f1674f4010VgnVCM10000022f95190RCRD There is no GRE in business although I assume the GRE math would count.
Here's a basic question that I thought I'd ask here instead of creating another thread: Do the CLEP exams only cover lower-level general ed. courses, or could one take the CLEPS exclusively to attain a degree?
I believe you would have to use a combination of CLEP, DANTES and ECE exams. This is covered in more detail on the web site bain4weeks.com
>> Technically CLEPs cover lower level, but TESC allows 200 level for anything, so can you earn your degree through CLEP? At TESC - yes AT EC- no
Thanks, cookderosa. I guess I'll start taking the CLEPs and see how I do. Any idea where to find the exam equivalencies for TESC? I looked all over the TESC website, but couldn't find anything.
You bet- it's my bible. Go into the publications tab and you will find the pdf version of the college catalog. It's around page 104-106
