Does anyone know of an RA college that offers online grad certificates in English/writing/lit related? Thanks!
Northern Arizona University, Professional Writing Certificate University of Central Florida, Graduate Certificate in Professional Writing Fairfield University, Professional Writing Certificate
University of Central Florida, Graduate Certificate in Professional Writing looks like a great certificate, but is the tuition really USD1000.00 per credit hour for online courses?
As far as I know, only Digital Forensics and Non-profit management grad programs at UCF offer out-of-state tuition reduction. I have an acquaintance on staff there. Someday, I'll ask her about this, if I can locate her email address.
NAU isn't much better at over $600 per credit. I wouldn't qualify, but they do have a "good neighbor" program for online classes if you live in a qualifying state. The discount is nice, brings the price down closer to $350/credit.
Another option may be a relatively inexpensive technical communications program that you could perhaps customize in accordance with your requirements. Louisiana Tech University, Graduate Certificate in Technical Writing and Communication, $446 per course. Minnesota State University-Mankato, Graduate Certificate in Technical Communications, $306.26/credit hour with fees. Southern Polytechnic and State University (GA), Graduate Certificate in Technical Communications, $227/credit hour + $75 fee for each course. As far as an undergraduate certificate option goes, I can think of no other program carrying the same cost and prestige as the online writing program through Stanford University. Each course costs $750, and credit may possibly transfer to any other school except Stanford. See the FAQ, which is on the page I link.
Thanks a lot!! I have been exploring this option a little, because Adelaide (where I will probably enroll for my masters) offers a creative writing grad certificate (food writing emphasis). I am strongly considering the course, and I believe I can use it as elective credit in my masters- not 100% sure yet...but anyway, it's 12 credits. If anyone else might be interested, I have found a few interesting certificates, and even a fully online MA in English! Penn State offers a grad certificate in Children's Literature http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/ Eastern Carolina University offers a grad certificate in Multicultural Literature as well as a MA in English - both fully online. http://www.ecu.edu/english/multicultural/ I can't seem to find my direct link to the Adelaide cert, but they offer a graduate certificate in food writing. The program is one 6-month semester with a 1-week residency in the middle.
Add another, cheaper online MA in English through Morehead State University (KY) to your list. Tuition currently costs $355/hr ($320 + $35 access fee) for Bluegrass residents and non-residents. I've heard it's a good program.
NAU has what they call a World Wide University (WWU) rate for students who take only online classes and who do not live in Arizona. That brings down the tuition to a little over $400/credit -- not bad for a graduate program. Tricia Schodowski
