"Strawberries are good for you but having them in a cocktail may make them even healthier, a study suggests." However, "Nutritionists said the "detrimental effects" of such drinks could cancel out such benefits. They found that treating strawberries with alcohol enhanced the antioxidant capacity within the fruit - which boosts the fruit's power to neutralise destructive molecules called free radicals - by a third." Im sure nutritionist naysayers would discretely enjoy a refreshing glass of "organic wine" with tasty strawberries. How can they refuse. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6569657.stm
The last time that I mixed strawberries and alcohol my wife had my son nine months later. I try to mix the two whenever possible (but I'm more careful).
Here is an interesting article about the positive benefits of fruits. A particular one mentioned is the cranberry. The fruit seems to be beneficial to women's health and may provide benefits to the human reproductive and circulatory system. "Drinking cranberry juice, because the juice contains a substance that directly inhibits bacterial growth and because it acidifies the urine (making it a less hospitable environment for bacterial growth)" http://www.merck.com/mmhe/au/sec11/ch149/ch149c.html http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2004/04/040429054703.htm http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2003/03/030326074425.htm http://www.prostatitis.org/altmedfaq.html http://womenshealth.about.com/od/urinarytractinfections/a/preventuti.htm -- Disclaimer.
