While the site is just getting up off the ground, I wanted to let you know about the new BestOnlineHighSchools.com, a directory of programs for students who want to earn a high school diploma online. I would appreciate comments in regards to what type of resources you might want to see available on such a site. Remember, though, that it is for online high schools only. Best, Tom Nixon
Looks like the site is off to a good start. I don't know if stats are available, but I'd be interested in knowing each school's track record in terms of their graduates being accepted at colleges and universities. Pug
Yes, I've been pleased with the early results. I have a couple other schools that should be in the system this week. In terms of track record, Laurel Springs is well-recognized by college admissions folks, particularly because they have had a number of reasonably famous students. It is one of the schools of choice for professional actors, athletes, etc. Penn Foster was formerly Thomson High School (and is part of the Thomson family of companies). It is regionally accredited and rather popular (because of cost, I suspect; one of the cheaper options). The third school, Greenways Academy, has a different focus. It provides support for students who have run into difficulty in traditional school settings. While I do not know their college rate, I suspect that college is a secondary goal. Best, Tom Nixon
My son finished his senior year via distance at American. I was very pleased with their course materials and offerings. They have a general graduation trac and a college prep trac. The are RA as well...you may want to consider adding them to your list. They are priced comperable to Penn Foster. Pug
