Last night, I saw a spot on Television about UOP and their educational opportunities. The commercial was nice, and definiately shows the impact DL learning has had, but I wonder if it may be just going over the top a little bit. Anyone happen to see this commercial?

Come to Chicago, we have UoP advertising DL and campus learning with their new facility in Schaumburg.
We have DeVry advertising, Judson advertising, Bradley etc.

Looks like DL is here and the up tight brick and mortar establishments have their panties in a wad over it!!!

    Good for DL.

School is tough, but its quite nice working in your shorts and bare feet with a cup of coffee and your dog by your side!!!
Not to mention being with groups your own age and not feeling like someone's parent.

Corporate education is here to stay, the traditional campuses must adjust or else. Recently, the UoP beat out the U of Oklahoma (and Cameron U) to get the military contract to provide MBA and M Ed opportunities for European based military. I wouldn't be surprised if the U of maryland, who provides most of our overseas undergrad programs, is targeted next. (AMU, UoP, etc.)

Schools like AMU/APUS and Touro UI, though non-profit, share the DL, "learner as the customer" attitudes that compete with "your lucky to be here" attitudes that you get with more traditional programs.

I don't know for sure, but I get the feeling that Touro, Capella, Excelsior, and AMU/APUS are growing and prospering while traditional schools are suffering financial crisis.

In Eastern NC, we see the UOP advertisment a lot. I have seen the UMUC advertisement once and the Southern Christian University ad comes along every now and then.

    I always get a kick...

When people make snap decisions on a program after one assignment. The person who posted the comment in the above listed link made an opinion of an entire schools content based on a single lesson. He is right, something is a joke, and his opinion is it. I have had easy (joke) classes at every school I ever attended, online or traditional. In fact, it is a hot topic of conversation on every campus in the USA as to which class is, "an easy "A". The traditional B&M luddites need to get over it. Some people have to sit in class where they can lean on their classmates and the instructor to get their knowledge. Others don't and won't ever again thanks to DL.

In today's Indianapolis Star there was an insert for UOP, Indpls. campus. This is on the insert "Fully accredited by the Indiana Commission for Postsecondary Proprietary Education." COPE is our state's agency that regulates private postsecondary schools. Since UOP is accredited by North Central Association I wonder why this was not listed. If a school is accredited are not its branch campuses accredited also? This may be a dumb question but hey, it's I asking.

Thanks, Oxpecker. You are certainly a "walking" encyclopedia of DL/accreditation information! It's always a pleasure to read your posts.
