When choosing a college it is important to consider the direction you may want to pursue after you graduate. If you wish to become a Professional Engineer it will be important to choose an educational program that is ABET accredited. The ABET accreditation is currently the only accepted accreditation by the NCEES. The NCEES is the body of the state government which provides engineering licensing primarily used in Civil Service jobs but not limited to that sector of employment.

    Here is another one:

BS in Computer Science and Engineering Technology

    From the University of Toledo.

Just a heads up on their industrial, electronics, mechanical and whatever other type of technology program they have at undergrad level; it is limited to Indiana residents only (I am assuming because of the lab requirements).

However, Indiana State has a very inexpensive:

MS in Electronics and Computer Technology completely online

    Bill

Thanks for this, Bill. On paper it look like a splendid offering. The out-of-state price, for a US master's in this sort of discipline from a nationally rated school, is unusually fair. It warrants, nay, cries out, for inclusion in BA in 4 Weeks cheap 'n good masters listing.

    Indiana State University (ISU)

Quote from Indiana State University webpage:

"In-state, out-of-state, and international students can access all courses in this program."

    Here you go:

    http://www.indstate.edu/degreelink/programsFrame.html

This URL brings you to the BS in Electronics Technology degreelink homepage. On the right there is the format delivery information. Right on the bottom of that it states:

    "Access:
This program is open to qualified applicants residing in Indiana. "

I think it is offered to sattelite campuses in Indiana (sort of like the teletechnet). I called the DL dept. a while (2 years?) ago and asked if it was possible to complete it being outside of the state and they said, "no."

If I am wrong, that's great, because they are not that expensive and it would definately be great for BSET students at Excelsior to find upper level electronics courses.

    Best Regards,
    Bill

    Laser100,

I have just read your PREVIOUS post about Indiana State. That's very good. Maybe they should take off the residency restrictions on the webpage, huh? Sorry for the mix up then.

    Best Regards,
    Bill

I guess the other programs (mechanical design, industrial, etc.) have oncampus requirements? How do you like the Electronics Technology program? I can't really find a prerequisite list for the completion program (just how many course you need to complete with indiana comm college degrees in electronics). What must you have complete in your associates (ac/dc, electronics, calculus I)?

    Best Regards,
    Bill

    ISU for everyone.

The ISU program satellite link is the only thing that cannot be viewed outside the state.

Anyone from any state or country can take the classes by video tape, web, or correspondance.

I believe that any lab work can be transfered from other regionally accredited programs. The lab requirement is small, as I explained most of the work is done with computer simulation software like EWB.

    Requirements

I believe the only requirement is that you have an regionally accredited degree in the topic that you are pursuing.

I believe the program is ideal for a person who cannot attend an actual classroom. I would rate the program "good" but not "excellent." However, the program is certainly a leader in distance education.
