Perhaps I did this wrong, but I thought I already started a thread on this subject....

Gotta go. The continuing behavior of Wes is intolerable. Yet it is tolerated. The degree mill shills don't just post their facts, they flame anyone who posts anything to the contrary. Yet it is tolerated.

Ironically, others on other boards complain about the tenor of discussions on Degreeinfo. Perhaps they are right, but for the wrong reasons. (I think they are major contributors to the unprofessional posts here, and are further responsible for much of the ire they receive. Still....)

People often announce their departures, only to return. I did the same myself. But the continuting tolerance of posts by Wes, James, Kirkland, and others (not to mention the benign, but utterly deceiving, posts by shills) is simply not worth hanging around.

Perhaps I'll return. Perhaps not. But I seriously doubt it matters, so I don't think I will. It's not worth the effort. Those that might want to reach me for some reason may do so at [email protected] .

Shame. I hope you change your mind. I think most everyone could improve their behavior.

For what it is worth, though I may not always agree with you, I appreciate the things that I have learned from you.

It is not possible to embed a poll within an existing thread, but we could take bets on whether Rich is actually saying:

A. "Happy Trails to Me . . ."
B. "Wave your little hands and whistle, 'So Long, Dearie' . . ."
or
C. "I'll be back."

I find it laughable that Rich would choose to leave degreeinfo.com (What? Again???), yet continue to post on alt.education.distance. Of course, perhaps A.E.D. is better suited to his, um, history.

I can't help but think that Rich using the word shill is truly like the pot calling the kettle black.

Nonetheless, in his favor (and for those who remember the reference), I think it's a hoot that he closed by quoting, of all people, the long-gone Emir Mohammed. That's pure style.

I do have to say, I am only a novice here, and get lost in the foreign languages that refer to history and knowledge that is beyond me, but I do thank you for the posts, insight, and information you post. I have appreciated it and hope you return soon. I have not noticed the ones you name (with the exception of one that is not cryptic, but a racist-not-so-nice person), but that is probably due to the cryptic messages that are personal shots at you. I am sorry for that. Though I have only been here a short time, it seems that lately that personal shots are becoming the norm.

 

Will miss you

I will miss Rich. He has a tremendous amount of knowledge in the field of DL and accreditation. I give him most of the credit for finally making me realize no matter how much I tried to justify some of my past affiliations, associations, degrees, certifications, etc., I was simply wrong and not in the finest traditions of being completely honest and ethical. I feel much better about myself. Thank your, Rich!

I'd like to publicly apoligize to Rich and to the other members here. I haven't had much time in the last few days to keep an eye on things, and as a result things got out-of-hand.

To paraphrase the future Governor of California...."I'm back". Several offensive threads have been removed, and at least one troublemaker has been banned.

This indicates that INtolerance IS the reason to hang around. Seems to belie the purpose of education.

 

From what I've seen on AED Rich gets far more stick/abuse/criticism there than he has ever had on DegreeInfo, where he has been generally been treated with a degree of respect. Nonetheless it's a shame that he has taken umbridge over what he claims are 'degree mill shills' (no doubt he thinks I am one of these), but what his real problem may be is that he becomes somewhat depressed when members don't agree with him?!

I have read yor posts and followed your studies with interest for a couple of years now. With your PhD in nontraditional education, shouldn't this forum seem like home? And, as in all homes, isn't there some disagreement and battles to be fought? You will be back, like a duck that strays away from the pond.

I am in total agreement with Kristie, I have learned so much about distant learning from reading your posts. I really hate to see you go.

 

I was not trying to be cute with the analogy, so what is funny here, and what elicits your sarcasm? Is there something that needs to be shared concerning something or someone characterized as "Dr. Duck"? It may be your type of pointless remarks that make some readers not contribute.

 

Haven't been around much in the last week. I must have missed something good. Rich keeps posting on aed and and he always has lots of friends there. This forum has been fairly tolerant. I also think that Rich gives as good as he takes. Perhaps this form of entertainment is just getting old.

a little over 2 years ago, I left TESC with a BA and the need to get an MS in order to keep/advance in my job. I came accross this discussion board (after I sank about $600.00 into "MIGS" and realized that I may be in for some pain) and I asked DR. Bear, You, and others some advice...and that advice was hard to swallow, but it made a difference!

I now have the Graduate Education that I needed from an RA School, I have moved on and up in my job, and I am still motivated to continue challenging myself to attain more!

I have challenged others in my career field at my job as well...to peruse this forum and submit questions. Where else can you go to have a distinguished figure in distance education like DR. Bear take part in discussions and provide information? No where on this planet!

Rich, you have so much damn knowlege, you have given great advice to people who without it may have lost hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars to degree mills. I think that you should stand firm and turn a deaf ear/blind eye to anyone that is not coward enough to try to blast you or flame you!

Know this...you have more supporters than opponents in here!
