After five years of internal debate and inability to suppress my desire for a doctorate degree specifically a PhD, I have finally come to the conclusion that I may not be able to suppress the urge for it. I feel I don't need it (doctoral degree) but the urge simply refused to be suppressed despite many attempts at suppression. I have therefore decided to stop the waffling and begin the program before it is too late. After reviewing several programs in the area of Health Science and International Health (accredited and soon to be accredited), I have come to the conclusion that Touro University International's Health Science PhD program with International Health option best meets my needs at this time. Consequently, I have registered for the program beginning September 15, 2003 for the journey to the doctoral program. Any one out there pursuing the same program as I am and would like to contact me for some exchange of ideas, please do so. Godwin
Good Luck! I have started Waffling and as soon as my financial condition gets little better I am going back to Touro for PhD.
Re: Re: End of Waffling "Waffling" is a good word that really describes my current desire to earn an accredited doctorate. I have contacted a number of SA schools to find a supervisor willing to work with me on my proposal and one that I can afford. It is amazing how many SA schools now want more money than the exchange rate equivalency. I received a call today from American Christian College and Seminary. I had contacted them some time ago. I can enter their accelerated program but it just costs too much. They used to have a six-month payment plan but I was told today they don't anymore due to TRACS. I wasn't aware accrediting agencies had this kind of input. Anyway, I wish you well and hope your financies get on track soon. I have had financial struggles for years. This is the appeal of unaccredited/state licensed schools for many, including me.
You are about to add a feather in your cap Godwin: Congratulations and good luck. What you are about to add in cap is not just a feather. It is an ostrich plume. I am happy that you were not able to suppress your urge. I am also sure that you understand that studying for a doctoral degree is like participating in an energy-sapping marathon race. I am confident that you will complete the program. Touro is definitely a great choice. Ike Okonkwo, Ph.D.
how's the program? OKO, I am searching for a PhD Health Science program and am wondering how you are doing with Touro. I'm giving a hard look at some Aussie programs, but no decisions yet. Matt
