This is just a thought...(maybe a grandiose one at that!) Since many of us are regular participants on this board, I wonder if anyone has thought about putting together an actual "Degree Info" approved DL convention? This would certainly broden the base for DL learning as well as give it some exposure to the general public. Any thoughts?
I've been nudging Chip to do such a thing for about two years now. I think it would be great fun. Talks. Workshops. Socializing. Films and videos. Field trip to nearby sleazy school. People who wish to be anonymous could probably do so, either by wearing name badges with their screen name, or just wearing masks. When? Where? How about a poll!
where to meet I would propose 5-7 Singer St., London. See pp 40 - 42 of http://www.hep.uiuc.edu/home/g-gollin/nonCHEA/diploma_mills.pdf for touristic photos of the lovely site. ;-) George
Over the years, there have been many FTF's (face-to-face meetings) between degreeinfo (and, before that, AED) participants, A statistician would probably have a blast analyzing the links - people who have met people who have met people frm degreeinfo. To me, however, the best of them remains the original Gang of Six "convocation" in Pittsburgh in 1998. That one even had t-shirts . . .
Virtual Reunion Since we are all big proponents of Distance Learning maybe we can have the reunion at several locations and have webcams broadcasting from location to location (i.e., videoconference to all of the locations). That way, face-to-face can happen regionally instead of having everyone that wants to participate being forced to travel too far from home. Just a suggestion!! Regards
It would be nice to chat with Gus on the way in from the airport, but he would probably turn on the meter.
