Has anyone done the U. of Oklahoma Masters program? I'm interested in the self-directed aspect. They claim that you can take up to 8 units elsewhere; has anyone jumped through the necessary hoops to do this?
Not sure what program you are looking at, but from a DL perspective, I would look elsewhere. The ED departement at least, doesn't value DL, as they are making me go to Germany (I live in the UK) to take my final class insead of allowing me to utilize a DL alternative. Unless the program you are looking at is adverrtised as 100 percent DL, I would make sure you live near a campus, preferably Norman. OU lost the contract here and support for students 50-75 percent done went with it.
Thanks Thanks - I hope the Masters program doesn't have all those pitfalls! According to a phone call to OU, my program is completely DL with the exception of three trips to Norman to attend seminars, which I'm willing to do. The 8 units that can be taken elsewhere are optional -- I'd just need "permission" from OU to do this. Doesn't sound like they're too accommodating about this, however, so I'll have to decide whether it's worth the hassle. jab
