I was checking out the web page for the MBA Certificate offered by Tulane. It is at tulaneu.com

I found it suspect that the web page ends in .com and that the regular Tulane web site (tulane.edu) did not contain any link to the MBA certificate program. You people have made me more careful in the way I look at things, and I got a very uneasy feeling about the MBA certificate web page. There is no link back to the official Tulane University web page, and the telephone number listed isn't for the University, but rather the program coordinator for this certificate program.

Anyway, in this day of copy, cut and paste creation of web pages, I wanted to verify, particularly since Tulane offers their logo and type style for download on their .edu web page! I called Tulane University directly and inquired about the program. The University Registrars office confirmed that the program was valid and connected with Tulane. Although, the man I spoke to said something that was rather interesting... he said he had a lot of calls and emails about this web page and so he checked it out for himself. He told me he was not impressed with the way the page was created and felt it was an embarrassment to Tulane. Apparently, he disliked the site ending in .com and the fact that nowhere in the site was there a link back to the main University web page. However, he did verify that the program is authentic and that the web page is not a fake. He said the Business School is the group responsible for the web site and suggested I speak to the Dean to voice my concerns about the web page. I did that, so perhaps they will create a link back to Tulane University (and vice versa) so that others will not look at this web page as suspect.

    Just thought I’d share.

Tulane MBA has been discussed extensively here. Please search Degreeinfo archive for more info about this program. The use of .com instead of .edu for the website has also been discussed. A third party markets the program for Tulane University, hence the use of .com for the website. The program is not really an MBA program. The mini-courses are not transferable.
