    Hello all,

I am doing some extensive searches on online degrees. And this University of Massachusetts (UMass) appears to be quite promising.

But what is pulling me back is that it is accredited by this "New England Association of Schools and Colleges". In which, when I checked that site at here, this NEASC just seems to be accrediting all schools in its regions! If anyone of you has done a detailed background checking of those degree mills, those mills are all accredited by whatever association that accredits anything!

Even though I found UMass on the USDLAsite, and UMass has just recently won an award from USDLA, it just gives me a feeling that it's one of those so-called universities that happen to have a nice name.

I know some of you here have graduated from UMass (eg. Bruce, our Administrator). I would like to learn more before I make a decision.

    Thank you for your help,

    Mike.
So, I wonder, has anyone heard of UMass? What's the ranking of it? How's the online teaching there? How worthy is a degree from UMass?

Please do some learning regarding accreditation. It will answer your questions.

The New England association is the one responsible for accrediting schools in that region. UMass is properly accredited.

UMass is a very well-respected school (and school system).

Posting in one thread is normally sufficient.

Well, as I am not living in US, so that's why my questions may sound stupid.

But thanks for your reply, I have also just found out more info from CHEA and it has the six RAs listed and yes that one I have question above is listed.

    Thanks again,

    Mike.

The University of Massachusetts is as legitimate as it gets. The system has 5 campuses (Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth, Lowell, and Worcester), all of which are regionally accredited. Regional accreditation is the highest level of institutional accreditation that a school can receive in the United States.

I really enjoyed my experience at UMass-Lowell. You're going to work your butt off to earn a degree from there, but its legitimacy will never be questioned.

Yes, UMass Lowell is a great school!

And their business program is also accredited by the AACSB along with UMass Amherst, Boston, & Dartmouth.

UMass Worcester is the medical school.

I am enrolled in the UMass MBA program currently, and it is terrific. The same professors who teach the live MBA classes in Amherst teach the online classes. It is a challenging, high-quality program.

As for accreditation, they are regionally accredited and professionally accredited which is the best you can have in the U.S.
