CMAs from US don't get exemption in Accounting. I found that CMAs from Canada and UK are given an exemption.

There might be a valid reason. I am just curious.

    Apologies

    Hi
Apologies for not replying sooner but I missed your message from being abroad and my Internet connections were tenuous.

Could you please be more specific as to your question so I might pursue it if I know of an answer?

    Kind regards

    Thanks Professor.

I was referring to Certified Management Accountant(CMA) from USA. You can find details in the following web site:

    http://www.imanet.org/ima/index.asp

I was wondering why CMA from UK and Canada can get an exemption in Accounting but not from US. There might be a valid reason or something else.

Fine. But what do you mean by an "exemption in Accounting"?

    From who, for what?

Are you asking about EBS or what?

I am not trying to evade the issues and will ask our exemptions officer if he can through light on the query, but if this is not what you are asking, let me know.

    I will post the response.

    Kind regards

    Checking begun

    Hi Tarbuza

Assuming this is about EBS I spoke with our Exemptions Officer and he is perplexed by your question as to why UK and Candadian CMAs get an exemption in Accounting but not US CMA's.

Certified Management Accountants (The Society of Management Accountants) are entitled to an exemption no matter in which country they are domiciled, as is the case of any of the professional associations recognised by the University.

    Looking at your web reference

    http://www.imanet.org/ima/index.asp

this seems to refer to another organisation, Institute of Management Accountants (CMA and CFA) with a US address.

It does not appear on our summary of Professional Qualifications for no other reaon, as far as I know, than that nobody has applied for one from IMA. Each application for an exemption is dealt with on an individual basis and its absence from the list does NOT indicate that such an exemption would not be allowed. Those on the list have been accepted in the past - that is their status - which is indicative not comprehensive. Absence indicates nothing at all. (Asa result of discussions on degreeinfo I have suggested we re-look at some organisations and their qualifications that have been acceptable in the past.)

The current list is shown on www.ebsmba.com and it is subject to change as institutes' change their requirements.

I have asked for a closer look at IMA and its CMA to taken and a report.

    Thanks for raising this issue.

Thanks Prof. Kennedy for your prompt response and attention. You answered my question. It was about your EBS MBA.

As I understand, one can get exemption if one is CMA from US.

Like Chartered Accountant (CA), every country has thier own CA. In US, we call it CPA. Similarly, CMA is awarded in UK, Canada as well as in US by different home institutions.

    Thanks again.
