I am from the Norfolk, Virginia area and have two full-time minimum wage jobs so I know that Online Learning is for me. How good is ITT Tech? I want to take up Network/Internet Security and I only know two campuses that offer it in my area -- ECPI and ITT Tech -- with the latter being my choice since it's being offered online AND I will be getting a degree (Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Security). Also, how much of a disadvantage am I if I take this particular course online as opposed to taking it in a traditional classroom (I'm talking about
differences in lab exercises, how much will I learn, coursework and the like)? I plan to enroll within the next semester (about 2-3 weeks time) so any info/insight/feedback will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

You might want to consider a different route to your goals. Do you have any industry certifications? College credits?

You'll probably want/need to get industry certs. If you can study on your own for those certs then you can apply them to college credit which should save you some money.

Some more info on where you currently stand with regard applicable credits will likely get you a better response.

If you are interested in getting a Bachelors degree you might consider Old Dominion's On-line BS in Computer Science offered through their Teletechnet program. They are regionally accredited and are one of the largest Distance Learning programs in the Country. Plus, since ODU is located in Norfolk your degree would have instant local name recognition.

Re: Re: A Few Questions About ITT Tech

No, I do not have any industry certifications. However, I have a Computer Science degree from the Philippines and was in the IT field there from 1998-2001 (worked as a System Administrator and part-time Instructor for IBM-Asia). So if you are wondering whether this is going to be a career change for me, no. I simply wanted to "rest" for a little while so I decided to go here to the US. But after my little "rest" I just could not get an IT job here (maybe it was because I do not have job experience here which is why I'm starting over again by going back to school). Sure, I've been to numerous interviews here and could probably get back in the IT field if I was in the Philippines but I want to stay here and get an IT job.

Hope this little info about me helps...
