OK, I need some advice, again. I received "unofficial" acceptance to Henley when I had my interviews, and was to get the official letter stating approval on the 18th of August when the Dean returned. I have heard nothing, and have inquired, including an e-mail to the administrator and the dean.

4 weeks until the program starts, and now I am REALLY nervous!! I have heard nothing but great things from this board about Henley, and the assistant dean I interviewed with was wonderful and seemed very supportive.

I have been able to get some vague dates, but no agenda for the meeting in September of when to fly in (tickets already getting filled from CA), and there is pre-work. I can't get that until the deposit is made, but I can't make a deposit until I have official acceptance.

Maybe this is how it works, and I am being too sensitive, but I want to get off to a great start, and I am worried I might be hindered in the timeframe for the pre-work.

My top concern is that this the way things run, and I might not be the best fit, if this is the usually way the program is administered. The administrator has said there were above the normal amount of applicants, but……Overseas students getting less than a months notice to travel……

I also don't want to pass up on a program that has just hit an usually busy time and things will go back to normal when the program starts…….

    I also don't want to be a pest…….

The stars are still in my eyes, and I want to make this happen, but there are too many maybe's to name that are dancing in my head.

I have a fabulous invention* on my desk called a telephone. I have found it very useful under such circumstances.

*Invented by an Italian, Antonio Meucci, though some of the locals around here seem to think otherwise.

    You're not being a pest!!

Just give them a call. If you want to be tactful, just ask them to provide your admissions status. That should give you a good starting point.

I am sorry, I didn't make it clear that part of the inquiry was a phone call.

"and have inquired, including an e-mail to the administrator and the dean".

    This was a call and 2 e-mails.

Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for the smart remark Oxpecker, but I wouldn't be asking if it were that easy.

    No more voicemail/email

    Kristie,

I hear you when it comes to concern about whether "this is the way things are". It's always a red flag when they start pulling a disappearing act or they take a long time to get back to you. Depending on where you're located, I assume you made your call during UK normal business hours. All you can do is keep trying until you reach someone live. I wouldn't bother leaving voicemails or even emails at this point.

Thanks, I know you are right, I placed a call and found that the main person I have been speaking with is on vacation until the end of the month. I will call tomorrow when the times overlap that it is working hours for both and hope to close on this.

It might well be that most of the staff are on vacation (=holiday in UK) until September when clases usually start.

My own experience with the D/L doctroate program is that the quality of customer services is the most important thing that a learner needs to check and until you are totally comfortable with their services do not make any commitment.

As well you should. Keep in mind that you are investing a lot of time, work, and money into this endeavour, so you should be given more timely answers, IMHO.
