I noticed that Saint Joseph's College in Maine has just started offering a M.B.A. program with a specialization in Resort Management. There does seem to be some limited residency involved, but it is a unique offering.
I always have reservation on distance learning (incl those joint-program with universities) in Asian countries. Experience has been telling me people can easily enrol into any Master degree program as long as they can afford to pay the agents or universities that market those programs. Can you imagine ??? A student who is currently finalising her dissertation for the MBA program could finish 6,000 words for a 10,000 words dissertation in ONE day. The thesis is expected to be submitted to London University this weekend. This student did not submit any proposal to her supervisor - a professor who is leaving the country today after a few days visit. The student told the Professor last weekend that she was occupied by work and did not submit any proposal for approval. The Professor said "I am leaving on Monday". The student said "I nearly finished writing up my PAPER". THe Professor said "OK,....I trust you will write me a paper". In fact, the student told lies as she had not written anything - not even decision on the TITLE of the dissertation. But, in a day time, she can finish 6,000 words. There is no research, not to mention the simple collection of data, etc, etc. I am wondering what she wrote in her Research methodology. She only spent a few days to study for the exam and she did pass. Another Master degree holder who graduated last year told me when she was studying the DL at Leicester University, UK that she did all her assignment by COPY and PASTE from websites of other universities including Harvard. When she could not submit her homework in time, the supervisor told her over the phone "I don't expect you to do yourself, you simply COPY the homework for me, pls submit your assignment ASAP. This phenomenon is TYPICAL in Asian countries. I am wondering whether this is common in USA, UK and Europe since the above universities are renowed one ????? FAST TRACK, EASY TO PASS, SAVE TIME, $$$$$ not BIG PROBLEM AS LONG AS THE PROGRAM MUST BE ENROLLED THROUGH AGENTS are the standard criteria in choosing Degree Granting universities in Asia.
