I just completed my MBA from California Coast University and I am proud of it. I know many people have a low opinion of CCU and I respect their view.

I am happy to have completed the degree and will proudly list it on my resume.

    Congratulations, Randell.

I think it's fairly well known that I'm not generally a fan of unaccredited programs, but CCU is certainly one of the better unaccredited options available.

If CCU does end up with DETC accreditation, you might want to look into "retro-fitting" your degree (doing some additional work) so you would end up with a NA MBA degree.

    Best of luck!

    Congrats Randell

I've done one course and working on a second.

Hope you enrolled in the MBA/DBA program. The very DBA cost very little more.

I have a question about accreditation. If CCU becomes accredited by DETC will that not mean your degree is from a DETC accredited school?

If a registrar or employer checks to see if CCU is accredited by DETC will they ask when the school was accredited?

Will CCU be obligated to tell a registrar or employer when the school was accredited, or that a particular person's degree is not accredited?

I don't know but when CCU becomes accredited, I will find out.

No, I enrolled in the BS/MBA program in December 2000 and just finished everything.

Subsequent accreditation can't hurt a bit. Although the degree could not be said to be accredited, there is lots of room for interpretation of wording.

Telling people that a school received accreditation just after the degree was earned would put it in a class pretty close to accredited.

It probably wouldn't get you into a doctoral program but would be accepted otherwise.

    Help Randell!

Congratulations Randell! That is a great accomplishment. I too am enrolled at CCU with their MBA in management. I was wondering if you could give me some assistance. I seem to be in a terrible rut with the Managerial Finance course and the Management Accounting course. Maybe you could drop me a line on at my e-mail address: [email protected]. Any advice or resources you used to successfully complete them would be greatly appreciated. After I get over this hurdle it will be all down hill from there!
One question, did you write a thesis or did you opt to take the extra course work?
Hope to hear from you soon!

    Veritas,

    Michael

No. Only degrees issued after the school receives its accreditation are deemed to have been issued by an accredited school.

Probably not. But you’d always know, wouldn’t you?

If asked, yes, but there is a good chance the school wouldn’t volunteer this information.

Needless to say, some people take advantage of these circumstances. Want to know what I think of those who do? :D :D :D

Unaccredited. What about that word do you feel allows a lot of room for interpretation?

Except there is no such thing. Whew! I thought I was going to be called on the comment I made in another post concerning your propensity for self-serving delusions. Thanks for providing a fresh example! :D

I agree. The degree might receive more acceptance than if the school had not become accredited.

Of course, keep in mind, that we are speaking as if CCU’s accreditation is a fait accompli. Although I believe CCU’s chances are extremely good, it is by no means a slam dunk.

    Hey Randell:

Congrates! I do beleive that CCU has better acceptance than other state approved school.

I hope, you will be finishing your MS in ITM from Touro! Do not drop out from a RA and IACBE masters degree.

While I've never seen it measured, I suspect many or most graduates of "pre-accredited" schools see their degrees treated as accredited later on. This isn't such a bad thing. After all, the presumption is that the school was operating prior to accreditation in such a fashion as to warrant it. I doubt if all those graduates of the pre-accredited National University, for example, have had to toss their MBA's away and begin anew. And many people who earned Union Graduate School degrees during the 1970's seem to have been able to put their degrees to work.

I suspect graduates of CCU (including those with doctorates) will enjoy the benefits of the school's accreditation (when and if it occurs). While they, technically, earned their degrees from an unaccredited school, there seems little likelihood it will matter. I'm not convinced it should.
