    UNISA past papers online

    Interesting site.

"We are merely a group of Unisa graduates who realised the advantage of using past papers as we prepared for our exams. We also discovered in the process that most students have difficulty in tracking down past papers. To this end we have created this web site, indirectly hoping to facilitate in the collection and distribution of past papers.

Please email / fax us any and all past papers you may have in your possession. This is a community based web site, and the more submissions we receive the more we can help each other."

This site will only lead to cheating and plagiarism on term papers. Why should UNISA students stoop to this level? ........because there's $$$$$$$$ to be made.:(

No, these are not term papers but exam papers. In my own experience, old exam papers in South Africa are publically available. When I was an undergraduate, the university library had bound volumes of all exams from last 5 years.

    Unisa name and past papers

If I could offer up a few words on both topics.

    1. Past papers are always available at universities based on the British model. The questions will never be the same and are written (in the case of the schools rather than universities) by external examing boards. I used to teach High School in London for 5 years at a state high school which used London University exams and prepared students for the exams with past papers to practise with. Since the British model is "All or nothing" on the final exam, schools and university students feel they need to prepare the type of writing needed to sit these exams. Unisa is much like any other RSA university or UK university.

    2. I have written to many people in government in RSA as well as the South African Ambassador to Canada in Ottawa to have my thoughts forwarded on my behalf to a level of government he would have better contact with expressing my own feelings as a doctoral candidate at Unisa facing the possibility of a name change. I also wrote to Dr Pityana, the university president on two occassions and had letters back from the secretary on his behalf stating he has refused to consider any other name than University of South Africa after the merger. I have posted the last letter to the MSN site I manage called University of South Africa-Canada if anyone wishes to read the text.

    Thanks for the reply.

IMHO it would be a big mistake to change the name to anything else.
