Hello, In the outline of the ECE Production/Operations Management it says several times that a conceptual understanding of relevant topics is required. Does this mean that the exam doesn't require you to make calculations using, e.g., statistical methods? Thanks, Dennis Siemens
That's a very interesting question. I will be taking this exam soon. Has anybody out there taken this exam that can answer Dennis' question?
I took the test and I do not remember needing to make many or any calculations. I could be wrong since I took many tests in a short period of time but I do not remember taking the test and thinking, "What have I gotten into!" I passed with a "C" and never studied for it.
Hello Randell and steeler, Thanks for replying me. By the way, steeler, what text do you use to prepare? I've only the Schaum's "Operations Management" and find it covers pretty much the content of the exam as described in the outline. In the foreword of the Schaum's OP it says that the book covers all topics of AACSB accredited MBA courses in Operations Management. But there is also pretty much calculus and statistics in the book. Randell, do you have a clue what is possibly meant by "Quantative Application" of transportation model, factor rating etc. as it is often stated in the contents of the exam? Thank you, Dennis Siemens
Hi Dennis! I just started studying for it yesterday. I've been using the book OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT from the Barron's Business Review Series. It seems like it is pretty good. I've used quite a few Barron's books and I have been pleased with the results.
For anyone who plans on taking this test, Excelsior is discontinuing it very soon -- in 30 days or so IIRC. I'm curious to know why they're killing it. They told me it would not be replaced. Jeremy
