CHEA (no, not the Liberian defense minister) has an interesting website. Among its feaures there's a database of the CHEA-recognized accreditors and lists of all of the schools that each accreditor accredits. http://www.chea.org Among the highlights: AABC 95 schools (Bible colleges) ACCSCT 772 schools (many of them don't offer academic degrees) ACICS 587 schools (ditto) AARTS 55 schools (rabbinical and Talmudical) ATS 199 schools (Christian theological) DETC 61 schools (not all degree granting) MSA 502 schools (a regional accreditor) NEASC-CIHE 211 schools (a regional accreditor) NEASC-CTCI 34 schools (technical and career education) NCA 949 schools (the regional accreditor) NWA 150 schools (a regional accreditor) SACS 769 schools (a regional accreditor) TRACS 36 schools (fundies) WASC-ACCJC 162 schools (RA community colleges) WASC-ACSCU 145 schools (the regional accreditor) The biggest non-RA CHEA-recognized accreditor? The NACCAS, with 913 schools. (National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences)
How does DETC and TRACS compare in general recognition? I have seen discussion here comparing RA and DETC - but not between these two NA - DETC and TRACS. Are they considered equal or does one or the other have an edge in general acceptance? Randall
Re: Re: CHEA-Recognized Accreditors That hasn't been measured empirically, so you're stuck with opinions and anecdotes. DETC is more broad-based (and addresses a different sector of schools).
