I know that AIU (American Intercontinental University) is regionally accredited. But their 8 month format seems fast. Would it be considered "good" in the workplace and how does it compare to University of Maryland University College or Devry's Keller Graduate School of Management?

    Financial Aid Question

I also wanted to know how AIU financial aid works. If the program is 8-10 months and graduate financial aid maxes out at 18,500 (subsidized and unsubsidized), how do students pay for the 28,000 tuition?

Either get their employer to pay, or open check book and write check.

And if neither option works, take out a personnal loan at the bank.

    I think so

As a student working on my second degree at AIU I have nothing but good things to say.

Yes, 8 months seems very fast for an MBA, however, you must be prepared for AIU's pace. FAST! and the workload, OVERLOAD.

AIU will require 1-3 assignments per week, plus group, discussion board, and professor student group chats ( not required, but you miss much if you do not attend).

Currently, I am doing homework Monday-Friday from 7pm - 11pm to maintain my A average. In short, I have no life but school and work. But in 17 more months, my BBA and MBA will be complete.

My wife is preparing for her Doctorate @ UMDNJ and feels the grad program at AIU, though fast paced, is well defined.

If your committed to gaining your degree and have the determination then have at it. It sure beats the brick and mortar crap. Sorry, I just hate classrooms.

Thanks for the info guys! By the way, what is UMDNJ?

I may stick with the University of Maryland University College MBA because of the costs. I was laid off a few months ago and don't want to try to get a personal loan.

UMUC is a good program, but there are more cost-effective options if you're on a tight budget.

Amberton University offers one of the lowest-cost MBA programs that is RA.

California State University-Dominguez Hills also offers a RA MBA at a very reasonable price.

Those are just a couple of ideas. There are probably more MBA programs than any other type of DL degree, so there are plenty of options. Depending on you career goals, you may want to check out AACSB programs, but that's another kettle of fish.
